| ECS
means ColdFire / 68k Experience!
ECS has a great deal of embedded
project experience. We
have delivered many 68k and ColdFire projects.
Our 68k and ColdFire experience
includes:
-
drivers and full BSPs for many
683xx and ColdFire microcontrollers
-
RTOS porting and development
-
turnkey solutions for communications
and control products
-
68k to ColdFire project porting
The ECS advantage
Our development staff has
worked with virtually every 68k family processor and microcontroller.
We have been working with ColdFire processors since 1995, and now are seeing
a "changing of the guard" from the 68k to the ColdFire.
We understand the processor's
peripherals, programming model, and toolset. Our experience lets
us identify and exploit the full potential of the processor and hardware
platforms we develop on.
Our
background with portable electronics and communications equipment provides
the hands-on industry experience that makes the difference.

About
ColdFire
Motorola's family
of ColdFire processors is the evolution of the venerable 68k family.
ColdFire processors feature
"RISC-like performance" with code density typically only found in CISC
processors. This is achieved through Motorola's variable-length instruction
set.
ColdFire is geared strongly
at portable and consumer devices requiring strong performance, excellent
code density, low power consumption and quick time-to-market.
Designers benefit from ColdFire's
well-established
toolset, extensive documentation and familiar 68k programming
model.
The ColdFire family
of processors
Motorola offers a growing
list of ColdFire processor choices.
Motorola recently announced
the newest
generation ColdFire core (V4). V4 provides a Harvard architecture
and limited superscalar execution.
Don't forget about
the 68k!
The 68k is still one of the
most widely-used processor families for embedded systems.
Motorola supplies a broad
range of 68k processor choices as well as an incredible selection of
microcontrollers
based on the 68000 family.
The best book we've ever
seen on 68k-based systems is "Microprocessor
Systems Design: 68000 Family Hardware, Software, and Interfacing, Third
Edition", by Alan
Clements.
